Robert “Squeak” Wayne Hines, Sr.

December 30, 1949 - August 18, 2018

Robert “Squeak” Wayne Hines, Sr. of Romney, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 18, 2018.  He was 68 years old.

Squeak was the son of the late Ira Homer Hines and Elizabeth Marie Sherman Hines.  He is also predeceased by (3) brothers; Garland, Jake and Blair Hines, (3) sisters; Helen Chamberlin, Barbara Champ and infant Tiny.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolina Pearl Hines of Romney; (4) sons; Robert W. Hines, Jr. (wife Gina Lynn) of Slanesville, WV., Michael S. Hines (wife Rebecca Lynn) of Romney, WV., Brian K. Hines (wife Sheila A.) of Augusta, WV., and Russell L. Hines of Cumberland, MD., a brother; Paul Hines (wife Shirley) of Banks, OR., (3) sisters; Josephine Brown of Purgitsville, WV., Nell Shobe (husband Jack) of Purgitsville, WV. and Pauline Johnson (husband Tommy) of Chesapeake, MD., (9) grandchildren; Brandi, Jordan, Katlynn, Ashley, Michael, Amie, Tabatha, Greg and Tyler; (7) great grandchildren, also survived by a very special; niece, Ellen, a great niece, Shirice and a nephew, Isaiah and many, many other family members.

Squeak was born and raised in Romney and started to work at a very young age.  He quickly became knowledgeable of many different skills, trades and jobs and excelled at all of them.  For most of his working years, Squeak found work as a tree climber, trimmer and cutter.  He and Carolina met and married in 1973 and started their family, resulting in (4) sons.   Squeak was man of few words and didn’t sugar coat any of them.  He made sure his boys were in church once a week until he learned they could also go on Wednesday nights, then they were there twice a week.  He had a personality that could be very persuasive, bull headed, kind and generous.  He loved to hunt, guns, auctions, yard sales and socializing with most everyone.

Squeak had an unparalleled sense of humor and it was never known when it was going to surface.  While he did not wear his heart on his sleeve, you knew when he cared about you.  When his family needed him, he was always there.  He was Squeak Hines to the very end.

Memorial services are being handled by his family and will be held at a later date.

    I wanted to offer my condolences for the loss of your loved one. Please find comfort in the promise god made at Revelation 21:4 “ and he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pair be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

  2. sQUEEK WAS MY BUDDY AND MY FRIEND. . at TIMES HE COULD BE HONERY , BUT AT TIMES HE COULD BE A UNBELIVEABLE MAN. SUCH AS THE TIMES WE HUNTED TOGEATHER, HE WOULD LAUGH AT ME AND TELL ME I WAS A CITY SLICKER. HE WOULD ASK ME WHERE ON WHAT PART OF THE DEER HE WANTED ME TO SHOOT THE DEER AND I WOULD SAY BETWEEN THE EYES. AND HE WOULD HIT EXACTLY HIT IT WHERE I WOULD SAY. THE AMAZING THING WAS THE DEER WOULD WOULD BE RUNNING. AN UNBELIAVLE SHOOT!! I WILL MISS HUNTING WITH MY BUDDY. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND!!!! YOUR FRIEND ROY BRAGG

Before I met Squeek I had people that told me stories and said I should watch my step around him, this was not true from the first time I was invited to his home him and his wife did nothing but make me feel very comfortable. I don’tknow how he was with other people but I am glad that we all had that friendship.Rest in peace my friend!!! You will be missed!!!
