Everett, Jr., (5) daughters; Debbie Shanholtz (husband Mark) of Romney, Becky Bowman of Albion, PA., Lisa Hott (husband Duncan) of Romney, Jennifer Everett (companion P.J. Shanholtz) of Romney and Beth Hurt (husband Timmy) of Romney, (2) sisters; Charlotte Judy (husband Melvin) of Chester, VA., and Shirley Seal of Fredericksburg, VA. Dick was born and raised in Romney, graduating from Romney High with the class of 1953. He was a member of the Romney High School State Football Championship team of 1949 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011. He was a member of the Romney Church of God and the Millbrook Boys Band. Dick served his country in the U.S. Army and the Naval reserves. After his military service, he and Dottie were married in the mid 50’s and started their family. Dottie died in 1964 leaving Dick with a very young family. Sue Wright came along, stepped up to the plate and became Dick’s wife and an instant mother. They loved being a family and soon added three more. Dick’s family was everything to him and his grandchildren even more. He loved being a dad and grandad. He seldom varied from his gentle and kind ways, and if he did, it was usually cutting up or being a joker. He had a tremendous sense of fun and often times one never saw it coming; he loved to entertain with his musical talents picking his guitar or banjo, making music with “made up” lyrics often times to the delight of his kid’s friends and whoever else was within earshot. Many will remember Dick from the Romney A&P store where he was responsible for making sure the shelves were always stocked. He retired from the A&P in the 1980’s and began enjoying his retirement, hunting, fishing and making music.
