Richard “Bo” Lee Haines, Sr.

August 31, 1953 - July 17, 2017

Richard “Bo” Lee Haines, Sr., 63, of Oldtown, MD passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 17, 2017.  He was the son of the late Richard S. and Thelma M. (Stewart) Haines.  Besides his parents, Bo was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheyenne Autumn Haines.

Bo is survived by his son, Richard L. Haines, Jr. and wife Tina of Hartland, Michigan.  Daughters, Amy Jo Stout and husband Michael of Berkeley Springs, WV and Alicia R. Foley and husband Wilbur of Green Spring, WV.  Two brothers, Russell Haines and wife Stella of Slanesville, WV and Bill Haines of Slanesville, WV.  One sister, Anna Aldridge of Cresaptown, MD.  Eight grandchildren, Jayden, Brooke, Brayden, Logan, Hunter, Brandon, Gina, and David.  Bo is also survived by special cousins, Greg Foley, Sr. and Greg Foley, Jr. as well as close friend, Vance Haskins.

Bo graduated from Hampshire High School and immediately went to work for Koppers Industries in Green Spring with 40+ years until his death.  With his big heart and easy going way, he was always there to lend a hand.  He loved to help people and would give you the shirt off his back.  He could be stubborn at times, but that didn’t stop him from enjoying fishing, shooting pool, and farming.  He loved his horses and especially drag racing.  Some may remember Bo from his younger days playing in a local band.  He enjoyed listening to Christian music and in the last few years, he became closer with the Lord.  Bo also found it important to donate to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in order to help children who are less fortunate and struggling with illness.  His daughter passed away several years ago, something that he truly never overcame, but the family takes comfort knowing that he and Cheyenne are together again.

At Bo’s request, all services will be private.
