Nina Elizabeth Beatty

August 11, 1946 - August 19, 2017

Nina Elizabeth Beatty, 71, of Burlington, WV passed away Saturday, August 19th at Piney Valley Nursing Home in Keyser, WV.  Born August 11, 1946 in Romney, she was the daughter of the late Jessie F. and Lula L. (Parsons) Nazelrod.  Besides her parents, Nina is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Richard S. Beatty, Sr.

Nina is survived by her daughter; Juanita Cheshire and husband Alan of Junction.  Two step sons; Richard S. Beatty, Jr. and wife Eileen of Burlington and Roger L. Beatty and wife Judy of Hagerstown, MD.  One step daughter; Betty J. Whetzel of Moorefield.  Three brothers; Raymond Nazelrod and wife Mae of Romney, Melvin Nazelrod and wife Sally of Romney, and Ralph Nazelrod and wife Marlin of Junction.  Two sisters; Betty Zirk (late husband Garrett) of Romney and Naomi Mauzy and husband Glenn of Petersburg.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, six step grandchildren, five great grandchildren, fourteen step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Nina and Richard were married in 1971 and truly enjoyed one another.  They lived a simple, full life.  Nina loved being a housewife and being around her home.  Flowers, gardening, cooking and devoted to her study of the Bible.

A special mention and thanks to the staff at Piney Valley for all the personal care and attention bestowed upon Nina during her stay.

Graveside services for Nina will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Beaver Run Cemetery in Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shaffer Funeral Home ~ 230 East Main St. ~ Romney, WV 26757 to help offset funeral expenses.

  1. It was a pleasure working with Nina. I was saddened by her passing. I will miss her. Keeping your family in my prayers.

  2. Sorry for the passing of Nina we went to school together at 3 Churches not a lot of kids at that time so we all were friends

  3. I got to know Nina when I was a resident at Piney Valley. She will be missed. My prayers are with you.

  4. I went to Grade School at Three Churches, WV with Nina. Always got along so well with her. Prayers for all the family.

  5. I am a volunteer at Piney Valley and I have known Nina since she became at resident there. I am saddened by her passing and I will miss her when I visit the nursing home. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
