Linda Sue Beery

August 30, 1948 - February 1, 2020

Linda Sue Beery, age 71, of Fort Ashby, died unexpectedly on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland.

She was the daughter of the late Marshall L. Nestor and Elva E. Poling.  Besides her parents, Linda is preceded in death by a brother, Warren Nestor.

Linda was born in Keyser on August 30, 1948 and raised on the family farm in Fort Ashby.  She graduated from Fort Ashby High School with the Class of 1966.  Linda spent most of her career at Memorial Hospital in Cumberland, transitioning to Western Maryland Health System, where she spent 43 years in Medical Records.  After retirement, Linda found a new career where she could give her heart by assisting those who needed some extra care and love.  She did this right up to the night she left us, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Linda was a natural at being a grandmother and she loved it.  Seeing Gram with her grandchildren was never a surprise.  She loved to travel, particularly to the Outer Banks for great times on the beach with family and had a philosophy of “the more the merrier.”  Everybody was welcome; at home or on vacation.  Linda loved laughter and people and that brought her many friends throughout her life.  She was an animal lover and loved a good cup of coffee.  She will be missed by many adoring friends and family and leaves an empty spot in Fort Ashby.

Linda is survived by her children, Alison B. Kidwell and husband Jamie of Fort Ashby and Ryan E. Beery and wife Brandy of Charles Town, WV; her (5) grandchildren, Ethan, Nixon, Ryleigh, Aubree, and Berkley; her (2) sisters, Rita Carroll and husband Gary of Fort Ashby and Cathy Parsons and husband Bill of Parsons, WV; her (3) brothers, Roger Nestor and wife Libby of Farmington, PA, Bruce Nestor and wife Ellen of Clearville, PA, and Greg Nestor and wife Cathy of Keyser; Linda is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as a large extended family.

Memorial services for Linda will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020 beginning at 1:00 PM at Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney.
