Georgia Sirk Hartman, 86, of Purgitsville and Romney, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Hampshire Center in Romney. Born September 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Margaret A. (Whetzel) Sirk.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by (6) brothers and (6) sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Georgia is survived by her daughter, Patricia L. Lee of Purgitsville and (2) grandchildren, Joseph E. Lee and wife Marie and Heather L. Lee, both of Augusta. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her special furry friend, Molly.
Georgia was born in Glebe, WV and graduated from Romney High School, Class of 1951. Throughout high school, she worked at the Pioneer Restaurant in Romney. Upon graduation, Georgia started working at Potomac Edison where she met her late husband. They married and started a family and Georgia stayed home on the farm in Purgitsville and cared for Patty.
She eventually moved to Romney and many may remember Georgia from Shirley’s Diner rolling silverware. She also volunteered many years at Helping Hands. There wasn’t a person she didn’t know. She loved to wear her jewelry, joke around, and watch basketball. She will be sorely missed.
To serve the educational and research needs of mankind, Georgia made the humanitarian decision to gift her body so that the gift of life may be given to others.
