Daniel Edward “Danny” Shingleton

August 9, 1948 - April 21, 2019

Daniel Edward “Danny” Shingleton, age 70, of Romney, passed away early Sunday morning, April 21, 2019 at the Dawn View Center in Fort Ashby.

Born August 9, 1948 in Romney, he was the son of the late Marvin E. and Anna V. (Sulser) Shingleton.  Besides his parents, Danny is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Shingleton and by two sisters, Betty Kline and Beverly Ayers.

Danny is survived by his wife of 32 years, Vicki (Foley) Shingleton; a step daughter, Brandi Small and fiance Richard Maxwell; a sister, Loreina Sirk.  Danny was also blessed with four grandchildren, Aiden, Kenzie, Maeghan, and Alex whom he loved very much as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss him very much.

Danny was employed by Pancake Motors and by the Hampshire County Board of Education.  Many may remember Danny from his 21 years as a custodian at both Romney Elementary and Hampshire High School.  He was a member of the Springfield Assembly of God and a past member of the Romney Volunteer Fire Company.

Friends will gather on Monday, May 6, 2019 from 5~7 pm at Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney to remember Danny.

Danny’s wishes were to be cremated and a private interment will be held at a later date.

  3. So sorry to hear of Danny’s passing. I have such fond memories of working with him at Romney Elementary. He was one of the kindest guys I ever worked with during my career there.
