Barbara Ann (Hott) Everett, 84, of Springfield, WV passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Western Maryland Health System in Cumberland.
Born January 31, 1934 in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Irvin R. and Victoria V. (Haines) Hott. Besides her parents, Barbara is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Lou Yoder and a grandson, Travis R. Everett.
Surviving Barbara is her husband of 63 years, Robert E. “Skeets” Everett. One son; Kevin R. Everett and wife Kim of Springfield. Three daughters; Debra A. Collins and husband Daniel of Boyce, Va., Cheryl L. Everett and husband Chris Elliott of Springfield, and Andrea K. Everett of Springfield. Three grandchildren; Shelley R. Everett and significant other Matthew, Chris A. Collins and fiance Charity, and Jeremy W. Collins and wife Kelly. Barbara is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; Aunesti, Zaylee, Brittany, Tyler, Bailey, Cameron, and Sydney as well as a brother-in-law, Olin L. Yoder.
Barbara was raised in Springfield and graduated from Romney High School, class of 1952. Upon graduation, she attended Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland. Barbara and Skeets married in 1956 and soon started their family. She stayed at home to raise the family and eventually went to work at the WV School for the Deaf and Blind, retiring in the early 90’s.
Barbara loved to shop and redecorate her house. She was a wonderfully kind person and very selfless. She was very private, yet very giving. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking and making Skeets tend to the flower garden. She will sorely be missed.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Shaffer Funeral Home in Romney. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Lisa Fields officiating. Interment will follow at Springfield Hill Cemetery.
